THE DUNBAR/ MOORE SESSIONS VOLUME II

Will Liverman's The Dunbar / Moore Sessions: Volume II follows the October 27, 2023 debut issue of the project, which was nominated for a Libera Award for Best Classical Album. Set to the late 19th and early 20th-century poetry of writer/activists Paul Laurence Dunbar and Alice Dunbar-Moore, Liverman’s original songs draw from the full spectrum of sounds and traditions that have shaped Liverman’s musical life —classical, musical theater, gospel, jazz, and more. The album features performances by GRAMMY® winners Isabel Leonard, Erin Morley, and Liverman himself; GRAMMY® nominee and Broadway star Mykal Kilgore; international opera stars Jacqueline Echols, Joshua Blue, Adam Richardson, and Ann Toomey; violin virtuoso Lady Jess; and cello virtuoso Lindsey Sharpe.

The Dunbar/Moore Sessions Volume II was released digitally on June 27, 2025, following the October 27, 2023 debut issue of the project, which was nominated for a Libera Award for Best Classical Album. The final, full collection from Lexicon Classics includes limited-edition CD and vinyl.

Show Me The Way Will Liverman & Jonathan King

2025 Grammy Award Nominee — Best Classical Solo Vocal Album

Show Me the Way is a remarkable achievement in the world of art song, and perceptively reflects the artistic passion of its creators.
— Classical Voice North America

Show Me The Way is a celebration of American song. The program was built in a spirit of collaboration and highlights women in classical music and the power of voices coming together. Every artist on this album is one who has deeply inspired me and whose legacy I aspire to be a part of. From my mom, who nurtured my love of music from day one and sings her own arrangement on the album’s final track, to one of my idols and mentors, Renée Fleming, whose character and devotion to the next generation of musicians and composers has been an enormous source of inspiration to me. My mom is someone who, if she has something to say, will find a way to say it. In the 80’s and 90’s she wrote, sang, and produced her own music. She used to record her songs on cassette tapes, and some of my earliest musical memories were listening to those tapes of my mom singing. That experience probably sparked my love of recording, as well as the idea for this project. —Will Liverman

The Dunbar / Moore Sessions - Volume 1 Will Liverman

With Lauren Snouffer, Lady Jess & Martin Luther Clark

There are so many ways to tell a story, and my appreciation for art song continues to grow, especially since I am able to collaborate with different artists who bring their unique perspectives to their work, and who open my eyes to possibilities I hadn’t thought of before. Being on both sides of the process – performing and composing – is a really valuable experience that allows me to explore and develop the unlimited facets of song through myself and the talented individuals who want to take part in telling new stories. —Will Liverman

Dreams of a New Day: Songs by Black Composers Will Liverman & Paul Sánchez

2022 Grammy Nominee – Best Classical Solo Vocal Album

devastatingly beautiful
— The Washington Post

African American art song narrates the journey — trials, tribulations and triumphs — of African Americans in the United States. These stories are preserved through a melding of poignant texts and expressive musical settings. Pairing the words of generations of poets and lyricists, who have encapsulated seminal events from the African American community, with rich musical textures amplifies these narratives. Unfortunately, this corpus of songs created by African Americans about the experience of Black Americans have long been deemed insignificant and relegated to a status of near invisibility. Will Liverman’s rich baritone voice in Dreams of a New Day is the perfect conduit to reveal this compelling history in song. —Dr. Louise Toppin
